ICF is currently seeking a Data Management and Visualization Specialist specializing in Power BI, connecting diverse data sets to inform programmatic insights, data storytelling, and using data to help our clients understand progress towards achieving their goals. This role will include applying your technical knowledge and work experience to support evaluation and continuous quality improvement (CQI) on a national technical assistance project and other projects in a federal consulting environment. The goal of the primary project is to support and enable legal representation to eligible arriving Afghans across the country and to expand the legal community s skills and capacity to provide immigration legal support.

The position is full-time and remote. This position requires the applicant to be able to obtain a Tier 2 Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

The Data Management and Visualization Specialist will be responsible for the collection, management and analysis of data including working to make data more accessible to users, development of dashboards and reports, development of data stories and visualization, and collection of data through surveys, focus groups, interviews, and administrative data management. This person will also support building skills of other data analysts in Power Bi and other software, data visualization, and creating insights from data based on project information needs. Candidates must be able to work on projects that include multiple tasks with competing deadlines, be well-versed in research/evaluation strategies, methodologies and analytic approaches, be able to maintain positive relationships and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues and play an integral role in proposal development.

Areas of responsibility may include:

  • Supporting data staff within the project and across the department in increasing skills in Power BI and other data management and visualization software.

  • Supporting quality assurance and monitoring/evaluation tasks, building data infrastructure, data management and analysis, and data storytelling/visualization.

  • Creating custom reports and data visualizations and supporting regular staff use of data

  • Data-driven storytelling built using enhanced data presentation and data visualization techniques

  • Maintaining and rapidly producing regular reporting deliverables as well as user-friendly reports/presentations for a variety of audiences

  • Partnering with teams to define key performance indicators, business intelligence and data reporting requirements

  • Monitor and report progress in terms of activities, outputs/deliverables and outcomes

  • Conducting occasional observations or visits to locations nationwide.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, social work, psychology, justice, or other social science related subject.

  • Must be able to obtain a tier 2 security clearance post offer

  • Must have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territories for 3 of the last 5 years

  • Demonstrated experience in using software including Power BI and Power Query is required

  • Demonstrated experience in data visualization and data storytelling techniques and principles is required

  • Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality, professional visualizations, presentations, products, and/or resources is required.

  • Strong interest and/or experience in related topics such as refugee, immigrant, and asylee challenges; child welfare; capacity building; technical assistance; culturally responsive evaluation; participatory evaluation; implementation science and/or continuous quality improvement (CQI)

Preferred Skills:

  • Master s degree in data science, social work, psychology, justice, or other social science related subject.

  • Demonstrated experience taking responsibility and ownership of project tasks

  • 5+ years of experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative data collection or management, research analysis, or evaluation

  • Strong ability to multi-task

  • Experience working independently to develop innovative solutions to client data interests and challenges

  • Experience sharing lessons learned and building skills of colleagues

  • Prior work experience in a consulting environment
